We only use tooth coloured restorations. They are made from a special resin with filler particles embedded in it to provide strength and resistance to wear.

The tooth is first etched with a mild acid before the filling material is bonded into position using a special glue (bonding agent) that bonds to tooth structure.

Both the composite resin and bonding agent are perfectly safe, and provided these tooth coloured fillings are placed in a suitably prepared tooth, they will last a minimum of 5 to 8 years, depending on the size of the restoration, and how much tooth structure it replaces.

The larger the restoration, the shorter the life span, and for larger restorations, a crown should be considered to fully restore the tooth to its original shape and function, and to protect it from fracture.

The shape and size of a tooth can be altered with white filling materials, and spaces between the teeth can be closed.

Contact us today to request additional information about our use of tooth coloured materials or to make an appointment with one of our specialists.
